Looking for a vendor that has Berghia nudibranchs for sale? You're in the right place. Berghia nudibranchs are the most effective natural solution for eliminating Aiptasia from a reef tank — and the only one we recommend at Reef Gurus. Unlike chemical treatments or Aiptasia-X injections, Berghia work passively and permanently, hunting down Aiptasia at the base of your rockwork where no syringe can reach.
Why Berghia work where other methods fail
Aiptasia anemones are notoriously hard to eradicate because physically disturbing them — scraping, injecting, or cutting — causes them to bud and multiply. Berghia consume Aiptasia entirely, including the base, which prevents regrowth. They're 100% reef safe, completely harmless to corals, fish, and other invertebrates, and will not eat anything other than Aiptasia. Once the infestation is gone, they simply die off naturally — no removal needed.
How many do I need?
We suggest at least 5 Berghia, which is the minimum effective starting number for most tanks. As pack hunters, a single Berghia is largely ineffective — they need to find each other to feed cooperatively and reproduce. A rough guide: 5 for tanks under 50 gallons with a light infestation, 10+ for heavily infested systems or tanks over 75 gallons. When in doubt, order more rather than fewer.
What to expect after introduction
Don't panic if you don't see them — Berghia are strictly nocturnal and spend most of their time deep in rockwork crevices where the Aiptasia bases are. Your Aiptasia population may even appear to get worse in the first few weeks before it crashes. This is normal. Given enough time and enough Berghia, the population will reach critical mass and the Aiptasia will disappear rapidly. Full eradication typically takes 2–4 months depending on infestation size.
Compatibility warning
Berghia are small and defenseless. Do not add them to tanks containing wrasses, dottybacks, puffers, triggers, or other aggressive predators that will pick them off before they can do their job. They do best in peaceful mixed reef tanks with moderate flow and plenty of rockwork.
